I am sure that you are already KILLING it as a female Entrepreneur!
And you probably heard this before and you probably know that you should be proud of yourself more often. This is probably the reason you are here now :) Over the last couple of years I went through all kind of setbacks and difficulties one can think of. I walked away from profitable business projects, from friendships that turned out to be toxic. And I definitely walked away from the idea that being in business is a shiny, everything pink and rainbows kind of thing. But there is a variety of reasons we should be proud of ourselves, not in a selfish kind of way, but just because we managed to survive.
1 Remember where you started
Remember what you dreamed of last year and five years ago, how much did you already achieve, how far have you already come? Between daily life, we sometimes forget about what we already made our reality and what happened in the meantime. Success is not a destination, it’s the process that you are already in knee deep. If you are not already doing it, you should really start celebrating the small stuff. Every little small step, every week you’ve didn’t give up, every day for showing up and taking one step at a time.
2 Take positive feedback seriously.
When people say Thank you – listen closely and stop wondering about what you might be doing wrong and why they are hesitating to tell you. It’s always good to get constructive feedback, but please stop worrying about when there is none. Enjoy when people swoon about your work, print it out, frame it to always always remember HOW you actually make people feel. This is a powerful thing to gain self-confidence and to find your worth in a world that is constantly telling you that you are not enough. Because you are and those people can see it. Cherish them.
3 What’s been the worst thing that happened?
What’s been something that would have made others give up? What did you make to think about giving up? And did you survive it? See ;) Some times are there only to help us recognize that we re able to survive them, some times are meant to be hard and slow and some events are even there to test us. Are we really, truly willing to show up every day and do the work? Are you ready to go through storms and deep waters to chase your dream? Is your vision strong enough to live through setbacks? When you are in business you probably had some and I am sure you survived them, as you are still here and wondering if you are doing well as a female entrepreneur :) Let me tell you, you do!
4 What is your super power?
What is your secret sauce? Whatever it that makes you YOU it’s definitely something to be proud of. No matter if you are an introvert or an extrovert, if you are a doer or a visionary – get to know yourself and find ways to be proud of yourself. Just as an example; I am a huge introvert (about 85% at Myers Briggs test) and I used to feel bad about not being open enough, or outgoing enough, not standing to be around people all the time and needing so much time on my own. But when I pigged deeper into the explanation about my personality type (INFP) I realized that the world needs every type, every “entertainer” and every “mediator” to the same point. When there is a lot of noise, the world needs people who can be still. When there is a lot of hustlers and doers, the world needs visionaries and leaders too. Whatever you are, whatever that makes you YOU, the world needs it.
And then you ask yourself
“Who am I to…”? Who am I to be another podcast host, who am I to tell others what to do, who am I to call myself a pro? It might be, that everything in the world has already been done, but it hasn’t been done by you.
Pepsi didn’t stop because there was already someone making cola. Nike didn’t stop just because there were already other companies making sports shoes. Think of any popular product, any successful company, they probably haven’t been the first one in their fields. The first ones in any field mostly fail, because they give up at some point or because the world is not yet ready for them. It’s the second and third and even thousands who happen to be successful.
“It might have been done before, but it hasn’t been done by you.” Elizabeth Gilbert
5 The Law of Attraction
When you feel good about yourself and when you know your worth you will attract people who see your worth as well. Suddenly there will be people who are willing to take larger leaps to work with you. The law of attraction says that whatever you are giving to the world is – at some point and in some ways we can’t predict – coming back to you. So be proud of yourself and other people will start to recognize that. It’s basically the same principle if you want others to love you, you need to start with yourself and love yourself first. It’s the single most powerful act in the world and it’s the root for all love to grow.
