“Everyone is screwed up, broken, clingy and scared. Everyone, even the people who seem to have it most together. So don’t compare your inside to someone else’s outside.” – Anne Lamott
Getting caught up in your day-to-day life, trying to get done what needs to get done while you actually feel like you want to quit is super exhausting. We are rushing from one thing to the next with a growing to do list when we actually just finally want to stay on top of things. Welcome to 2018. As long as hustling and how much you can get done in one day seems to be a glorious measuring stick we will never be truly free and never get the satisfying feeling of being proud of ourselves. Because there will always be space for improvement, you can ALWAYS do more, more, more. You will never be finished; it’s a lifelong journey, so you better enjoy the ride. But how can I do that, do you ask? I will tell you what helped me on the Odyssey of Entrepreneurship and what a Business Retreat (instead of just another Workshop) definitely can do for you too:
1 // Get out of your own mind. The more you are just on your own regarding your business and ideas, the more you will overthink everything and finally decide that what you do is a complete crab. You already know that you have to invest in yourself in order to get ahead. So get out (physically), escape to nature, meet new people, exchange with other’s, listen to their problems and help them find a solution. And you will see, that when coming back to your own work, there is a new perspective and a reminder to keep up your ideas bubbling. The new inputs you will gain during a Business Retreat are priceless and maybe what you will hear are the exact things you needed to hear at this very moment.
2 // Know why you started. Having a bigger picture vision is the essence of every success as it is the roadmap you’re following. And if you don’t know where you’re heading, how should you know when you arrived? And how should you know you’re even on the right way? You have to start with yourself to see where your path is leading to, you have to be willing to sit down and reflect on some serious stuff. You can only achieve the outer goals you have when you did the inner work. I know, it’s not always fun, but I promise it’s getting better and lighter once it’s been a total mess. During a Retreat, you have the time and the comfort to dig deep into your most essential questions, whether you want to share the process with others or want to take some time on your own.
3 // Getting asked the right questions. A good Mentor will never just show you the way he or she took, that led to his or her success. A good Mentor will always ask the right questions, so you can find your own solution and your very own way. Just copy + past a proven process might be a quick but the least sustainable way to lead your business. This might take a little longer, but remember, this is a lifelong journey. We will never be finished with learning and even the most successful people consider themselves more as students than masters. And in the end, don’t we all even WANT to be unique and authentic? We already are! We just have to listen closely to ourselves, our own preferences and dreams.
It all starts with YOU! (I can’t stress about this enough.) It is YOUR life, at what end you should be proud and say: “It’s been a heck of a ride and I am glad I took all the chances I had.”
And I am sure, you will!
Love, Isa ❤
